While BigFoltz was in high school, he played basketball casually with his friends after school. He is very tall at 6’4”, which is why the coaches and then his friends started calling him ‘Big Foltz’ in reference to his height, build, and surname. So, he decided to adopt it as the name for his YouTube channel when he first created it in October 2010.
He started live-streaming on Twitch in late 2016, but never really got into it. He then stopped creating content altogether in November 2019. He only returned to content creation in April 2023, except that his focus is now on live streaming on Kick rather than on YouTube video content or Twitch streams. He still enjoys watching basketball games in his spare time.
